Taylor

Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop phenomenons one who was able to completely cross over from country to the mainstream becoming an enduring popular icon, and sweeping the globe in the process. Swift left her heritage in country music like a second-skin and showed she had the finest pop sensibility of her generation. Swift was the only singer/songwriter who knew how to follow the zeitgeist of popular music when she went on tour. This was evident in her early songs, particularly in her neo pay homage towards Tim McGraw. On her second release Fearless (2008), Swift revealed a singer/songwriter who was beginning to get acquainted with herself. The album ended up with a lot of reach not just in the U.S. where it racked up six platinum singles thanks to Top Ten hits Love Story and You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well with the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift took off to the peak of stardom with Speak Now. With her subsequent three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017), her popularity increased and she became part of a music scene in which it became clear she deserved to be. Her name was always at the top of pop until she reverted to her own style on her sister albums Folklore and Evermore in the year 2020.
