Taylor
Taylor Swift, the rarest pop star, is one who has managed to cross over from country music to mainstream culture, and has become an iconic figure in the world of pop. Swift also took on every continent through her music. Swift left her country roots as if they were just a second skin revealing that she was perhaps the savviest pop-oriented singer/songwriter of her time, one that could tap into the current zeitgeist and make it personal and equally impressively do in the opposite direction. Swift's early songs, including the neo song in tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her talents. However, her album Fearless showed a singer-songwriter who was re-discovering herself and was able to draw a wide audience. The album was a huge success, not just on American soil, with six platinum-certified songs. Its Top Ten songs Love Story & the hit song You Belong with Me were the main reasons for this. However, it did exceptionally well throughout the world. Speak Now delivered almost two years later, which consolidated the success and moved Swift towards the top of stardom. Swift's popularity continued to grow with her following three albums -- Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017) which saw her move into the realm of pop in which she was already a part. However, even when she reduced her strategy with 2020's stripped down siblings' folklore and Evermore she remained atop the world of pop, a position she kept with the re-recordings of her older catalogs as well as Midnights which was her top-charting synthesizer 2022 set.
