Taylor
Taylor Swift has become a rare pop phenomenon: A superstar who crossed over completely from traditional music into pop culture, turning into the pop icon of the future that will last forever and conquering everywhere. Swift let go of the influences from her country music in the sense that they had been added as an extra layer of skin and revealed she was one of the best singers/songwriters of the generation she was born into. Swift could make the event personal and use it for her benefit. These skills were evident on her early hits including the neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album in 2008's Fearless featured a singer-songwriter figuring out her true identity and in the process, finding a mass audience. Fearless was a huge success not only in the United States, where six of its singles were certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But it also performed well around all over the world. Swift was able to consolidate her progress through Speak Now almost two year following. The popularity of Swift only grew through her subsequent three albums -- Red (2012) 1989 (2014), and Reputation (2017) and Reputation in 2017 and saw her move confidently into a realm of pop music in which she was already a part. Even when she scaled back her style with the 2020's stripped-down sister album folklore, and Evermore she remained atop the world of pop, a position she maintained with re-recordings of her back catalog along with Midnights her chart-topping synth-heavy 2022 collection.
