Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She is a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, television personality, philanthropist as well as the founder and editor of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece, Arianna Huffington moved to England with her family at the age of 16. At Cambridge University she earned a MA Degree in Economics. As the first foreign student to be elected president of the highly regarded debate group The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take on the role. Following the graduation ceremony, she became a well-known Conservative syndicated journalist. After a few years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political scene. The fame of Arianna has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna rose to fame in 2003 after she decided to contest for a non-partisan position in the California recall election in order to succeed the Governor Davis. In addition, she was also the leader of a Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient cars. Forbes identified her the most powerful woman in the field of media in the year 2009. She ranked 12th on the listing. The Guardian added her to the list of 100 most influential media for 2009. In 2011 AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her the head of the media group which included many at the time-current AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who was a consultant in management as well as a journalist. Although she had a close relationship with her father, the relationship she had to her mom was the defining factor in the rest of her life. She showed leadership traits even in her early years. At 16 years of age she relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. When she was in college, she joined Cambridge Union's college debating societies which she later became the first female and foreign president. In 1972, she graduated with the degree of Master's in Economics. In the years following after graduation she was a critic columnist and television host. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
